Thanks to Ernst & Young and my wonderful mother-in-law who stayed with our boys, Darren and I went on the most fun and relaxing vacation to New York City! Well, it was relaxing for me. I didn't have to go to the conference Darren went to. I just got to play play play! But before the conference, we played together and saw all the sites. The Statue of Liberty,Ground Zero, which is now a new monument building under construction, and Times Square. We just so happened to be there the very night of the car bomb that didn't go off. Thank goodness it didn't go off! We were on the sidelines kinda early while nobody knew what was going on. It wasn't until we made it back to our hotel and turned on the tv that we understood the gravity of the situation. We walked Central Park and went to the top of the Empire State Building too. What a beautiful city! It was so great to be a tourist with my husband and spend so much time together. When Darren had to go to his conference outside of the city, I rode the train in and enjoyed the MOMA and the Guggenheim art museums and shopped like crazy. After being a tourist for two days, it was fun to try and feel like a New Yorker, navigating Grand Central Station, riding the subway and hailing taxi cabs. What a rush. A huge thank you to Grandma Jolley who made it possible for us to go and took such good care of my kids they didn't even miss me!

Hooray! I'm so glad that you guys got to have a vacation there. You're right, it's GREAT! This is why the New York New York North mission is the greatest mission on earth. (Not that I'm biased or anything:)
Good to see you did the important stuff. And double good that you were adventurous enough to try out everything on your own.
OH man that all looks so fabulous!!! That car bomb pretty much freaked us all out!
I love the pictures and you look great over there in the big city!!
So glad you had fun!!!
First: Darren, get a new shirt.
Second: AWESOME!!!!! You guys so deserve this vacation and I'm glad you had a blast. I love that city, it just seems magical.
Great pics!!!
Still crying over Lost.
Thank you, Emily. The man owns some really nice-looking polo shirts but he insists on his high school t-shirts. I just don't get it.
I just started laughing out loud when the first thing I noticed in the photo was the Springfield baseball shirt. I don't get it either but he is a chip off the old block, sorry. He does have to dress up every day though, I guess we can cut him a little slack.
I just loved my days there with the boys so much, I can't even tell you. Thanks for that!!
How fun! That's awesome that you and your hubby were able to take a fun trip together! I have always wanted to go to New York. :)
Looks like so fun! And scary about car bomb! Glad it didn't go off too! :)We need to talk. I miss you!
