I swear I've never seen our apple tree in the backyard produce red apples before! When I realized they were good, I just hated seeing them go to waste. So look what I did yesterday! I was very proud of my domestically challenged self.
I took these apples from this tree and I made this! And it was actually really good! I couldn't believe I had actually succeeded on my first try. (I've really never made a pie before.) My hubbie was pretty impressed too. The two of us devored half of it last night. Now I'm onto apple crisp and applesauce since I'm on a roll...

Hey good job! I am making applesauce too. I figured it would be cheaper than buying it at the store and I can use it for cooking if Jared won't eat it, which he won't.
YUM!!! Way to go! I'm so jealous of your apple tree, are you kidding me?! That is so awesome!
Love this post, you rock!
I can't believe it! I am so impressed!
OH MY GOSH I'M SO IMPRESSED!! and Jill what are you talking about... domestically challenged??? I THINK NOT!! If you are domestically challenged that i'm in BIG BIG trouble :) Way to go with the pie, it looks super good!
i cant' WAIT to see you all!!!
Jill,
I am so proud of you!! I knew you could do it and you should be proud. Next you can try canning the apple pie filling. I think you should make the apple pie for Thanksgiving.
Have a great week in Utah and tell your family hello for me.
Love you!
Yummy! I wish I could have tried it!! That is so cute how you have little helpers in the kitchen!
I had no idea you made a pie by scratch! Way to be domestic! Sounds yummy!
Good job! Your crust looks perfect. I just made applesauce with apples from my dad's trees. It's so nice to be so resourceful like that.
Hey I am glad you found my blog. Visit anytime. Sorry it took me so long to reply. Good job on the pie. I have become very lazy in the domestic area because I am spoiled with a chef at my house. But I did make homemade peach jam with my friend this year. It turned out great and we were very proud of our achievement. It was quite the adventure. It's too bad we didn't have a video camera recording because I think we could have sent it into Americas Funniest Home Videos.
I would love to have an apple tree! The pie you made looks really yummy, oooh, I'd love a slice right now!
I am so impressed! If I lived by you, I would ask you to make me one:)
By the way, we went private with our blog. so email me at jenniefrey@msn.com and I will send you an invite!
